Behavioral Health for Seniors

Behavioral Health for Seniors is a specialized, inpatient program for adults 50+ experiencing mental health difficulties and emotional stress in need of a secure, therapeutic environment. We offer individualized care and treatment plans for each patient’s unique needs in order to reduce symptoms and enhance quality of life.

In an effort to assist caregivers who often look after their senior loved ones, we provide transportation to and from the hospital, depending on availability.

Program Features

  • A board-certified geriatric psychiatrist and specially-trained team 
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Acute care with multiple therapeutic approaches and interventions
  • Medication management and nutritional counseling
  • 24 hours a day / 7 days a week admissions for those 50 and older
  • Transportation to and from the hospital

Signs and Symptoms

Signs that your loved one may need specialized care include:

  • Confusion and disorientation
  • Sudden changes in behavior
  • Sleep or eating disorders
  • Sudden weight loss
  • Severe agitation, mood swings or paranoia
  • Problematic behaviors in the evening
  • Depression
  • Unrealistic or suicidal thoughts

Evaluation and Admission

Referrals to our program come from a variety of sources, including: family members and friends, residential care centers, health professionals, home health providers, physicians, psychiatrists and service agencies. All individuals referred to the program will complete a confidential pre-admission assessment to determine if admission is appropriate. 

From the initial medical and psychiatric assessment to planning for the day of discharge, our goal is always the same: to rehabilitate the whole person and return him or her to the most useful, productive life possible.
